UC Irvine
(3/10/08)

The Chemistry Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (Chem-SURF) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), provides a unique 10-week summer research opportunity for undergraduates to become fully immersed in a wide range of exciting, cutting-edge specialized and interdisciplinary research projects.  With a goal of helping students gain the skills and confidence to become independent researchers and make better career decisions, the experience focuses on intensive and direct contact with a large number of faculty and their graduate students through a series of pre-research lectures, hands-on projects, weekly seminars and workshops, industry field trips, and social activities.

Applications can be submitted online at the Chem-SURF Web site:

Auburn University
(3/5/08)

Auburn University will provide 10 summer internships to undergraduates for participation in an REU Site Program sponsored by NSF in collaboration with the Department of Defense through the Awards to Stimulate and Support Undergraduate Research Experiences (ASSURE) program. This multi-disciplinary, multi-departmental REU program is open to all undergraduates enrolled in Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering. http://www.ag.auburn.edu/nsfbiosensors/

Trinity University
(2/26/08)

The Department of Computer Science and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Trinity University, San Antonio, TX, are pleased to offer a 10-week REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program where students will work collaboratively on a wide variety of AI & multi-agent systems problems. We will use multi-agent systems to simulate social environments. This experience will benefit students who are interested in real-world problems. There is an application deadline of March 31.

Coastal Carolina University
(2/25/08)

I have an NSF IRES grant that supports undergraduate research in Yerevan, Armenia. Area of research is metalloporphyrin catalysts. The grant pays for travel and living expenses for eight weeks plus a $3000 stipend. The support does NOT cover graduating seniors.

One or two openings remain for the summer of 2008. Chemistry majors with some experience in p-chem, instrumental analysis, and/or research in porphyrin chemistry preferred, but all interested will be considered. Please have interested students contact me by email or phone as soon as possible.
