Exoplanets and the Search for Life
One of the “big questions” that many of us wonder about is “are
there Earth-like planets around other stars, and is there life on those
planets?” For centuries, only philosophers dared try to answer
this question. But today, with space telescopes and new optical
tricks, we have the ability to find Earth-like planets and search for
signs of life on them.

The Spitzer Space Telescope: Who Knew What Was Lurking in the
Dark?
For over 3 years, the all-infrared Spitzer Telescope has been returning
spectacular and surprising views of the invisible universe. With
its incredibly sensitive heat vision, Spitzer has peered into dark nebulae
to witness the births of stars, watched the turbulent chaos of galactic
collisions, even observed the first "sunset" seen on a planet in another
solar system. And more surprises are rolling in each day! During
this talk, the audience will have a chance to experiment with an actual
infrared camera in order to better understand what Spitzer sees. After
that, we'll update you with the latest news and images of a universe
unlike any you've seen before.

Video:
About: Milonga, along with vals and tango, make up the triad
of music and
dance forms of Argentine Tango. Set to a lively 2/4 tempo music, milonga
uses the same basic elements as tango, though the movement is more accented
and upbeat. It is rather a kind of rhythmic walking without the complicated
figures of tango.
Notes: NO dance experience or partner necessary. Tango is
danced in close position with figures that require a lot of pivoting on
the balls of your feet. As such, it is ideal for beginners to wear close-toed
shoes with smooth bottoms -- suede or leather is ideal, hard rubber is
ok. Most ladies wear heels -- if you do so, make sure to choose a pair
with straps so that the heel is NOT loose, this will aid in your pivots.
